5th Grade Curriculum

Fifth Grade
In fifth grade at Holy Redeemer students begin to prepare for middle school with great focus on developing organizational and study skills.  They take on more personal responsibility for their work as well as themselves.   The students switch classes for Math, Reading, Social Studies and Science.

The curriculum for Math includes the Saxon Program, which is used in all grades.  Concepts and skills taught include numbers and operations, measurement, geometry, algebra, statistics, data analysis, and probability, problem-solving strategies and mathematical reasoning.

In Religion they continue exploring and learning about their Catholic faith, focusing on the sacraments.  They become familiar with the parts of the Mass through participation in and planning of School Liturgies.

English, grammar and writing are taught along with Language Arts.
