4th Grade Curriculum
Fourth Grade
In 4th grade, we try to create a nurturing and engaging environment that provides students with a place to explore and learn to the best of their abilities. Integrating subject areas in our classroom allows for more meaningful learning. Our students are encouraged to take ownership for their learning and social responsibilities. We are proud of our Catholic identity. Above all, we always have fun!
Fourth grade is a fun and exciting year for the children here at HR. We will be learning many new things in math, English, reading, science, social studies, and religion. We use a hands-on approach to learning in all subject areas.
We use the Saxon Book series for Math. This year we will be focusing on decimals, algebra, and we will continue learning our basic math skills.
In English we do lots of writing activities. We will be specifically working on sentence structure, punctuation, and grammar.
Reading is a very important subject and is integrated throughout the day. We use the reading skills that we learn during class throughout the year in all subject areas.
For science we do many experiments and other interactive activities. We learn about the Scientific method, cells, plant and animal kingdoms, and many other concepts.
Religion is another subject that is taught all the time. We teach religion when we are learning about its History, but we also refer to our morals and values at all times. Prayer is said three times a day. We practice respect, responsibility, and reverence.
